FDI and FPI
Most foreign investments are either in the form of FDI or FPI. In the former, individuals/firms of a country invest in foreign firms in another country with the intention of acquiring ownership and actively engage in its furtherance and growth. In the latter, individuals/firms of a country merely invest in a company for the speculative purpose of taking the advantage of the global market without any intention of acquiring ownership.
